Ward 79 hosted a junior netball tournament in partnership with the Swartklip Netball Union on Youth Day last week to showcase the talent of young children by coaching them for professional netball. The first board team participated in the Erica trials and six members made it through to play for the Cape Town Netball Federation.

“This is a true opportunity that our youth can use and an alternative to social ills presented in our community,” says ward 79 councillor Solomon Philander.

More than 400 people visited the Swartklip field supporting and representing the 12 clubs that participated.

Every child received a medal and lunch.
