A new executive director will take the helm at

Inyathelo, the South African Institute for Advancement.

The Woodstock-based non-profit organisation, which looks to build a vibrant democracy with a robust and sustainable civil society and higher education sector, has announced the appointment of Jessica Rees-Jones as its new executive director from next month.

Rees-Jones takes over from acting executive director Nomfundo Walaza. Rees-Jones’s experience includes working as a specialist consultant to both the Graca Machel Trust and power producer Cennergi; and CEO of the Royal Bafokeng Nation Foundation. She has qualifications in non-profit leadership and strategy from Stellenbosch University.

Zenariah Barends, chairperson of the Inyathelo board of trustees, says: “Inyathelo is at the helm of providing organisational development and support services to an extensive array of civil society and related organisations.”
