A 22-year-old man was arrested for drug possession and dealing in Hangberg on Friday 13 May.

Following a tip-off , the Wynberg Cluster Crime Prevention Unit together with Hout Bay police officers executed a search warrant at a residence in Grey Cottages. On searching the premises police recovered 100 Mandrax tablets to the value of R3000, 4g of tik valued at R40, 3kg dagga to the value of R40 000 and R44 000 in cash.

On Sunday 15 May, near Sandy Bay, two women were confronted and robbed of their belongings by a male suspect armed with a knife. The suspect was accompanied by a woman.

Another incident occurred where a man and woman were threatened by the same male suspect. After these incidents were reported, the Hout Bay Neighbourhood Watch deployed their members in the area.

After a search was conducted in the mountain area, members of SANParks and the neighbourhood watch spotted the suspect in some bushes.

They confronted the man and during an altercation one of the neighbourhood watch members was stabbed. He sustained injuries to his nose and had to undergo an operation.

The suspect ran away and disappeared among the bushes.

A 29-year-old male suspect from Imizamo Yethu was arrested while still in the mountain area.

Police officers, Hout Bay neighbourhood watch, Community Crime Prevention and police trackers assisted in the recovery of the stolen property.

Two cellular phones and a Bluetooth Beat box were among the items that were recovered and handed back to its lawful owners.
