Several arrested for illegal possession of ammunition

On Sunday 27 August, police arrested three suspects for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunitions in Beacon Valley, Mitchell’s Plain. 

Western Cape police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk says the firearm containing four rounds was found under a bed in the Wendy house. 

"The suspects face charges of possession of a firearm without a license and illegal possession of ammunition."
                                                                     
He says on Monday 28 August, a 39-year-old suspect was arrested for illegal possession of ammunition at 6th Avenue Hazendal in Athlone. The one 38 special round and one 45 round of ammunition were confiscated by police.

"On the same day, police arrested a man in Pisa Close, Portlands, Mitchell’s Plain for illegal possession of ammunition. The man was running while carrying a bag with a green box inside containing 30 hollow point rounds, five 9mm short and five 9mm live rounds of ammunition," says Van Wyk. 

Police also arrested a 30-year-old suspect, allegedly affiliated with the Americans gang for the illegal possession of ammunition, he says. 
"The suspect from Lebombo Street, Portlands was found with one magazine containing three rounds of ammunition. 

All suspects have recently appeared in court.
