Police nab three in car chase on N2

2015-12-01 06:00

Manenberg police have arrested three men after chasing their stolen car on the N2 on Wednesday.

The men, aged 26, 29 and 37 years, were arrested for the possession of an unlicenced firearm and a stolen car.

Members of the City of Cape Town’s metro police tactical response unit were patrolling the N2 when they noticed a white Volkswagen Polo driving recklessly at about 09:45.

When they tried to pull the car over, the driver of the Polo tried to accelerate in an attempt to flee the scene.

Following a brief chase, the metro police members managed to pull the car over on the N2 between Jakes Gerwel Drive and Duinefontein Road.

The members tested the car and found that the white Polo had been stolen in a house robbery in Delft.

“On conducting a search of the car they found a revolver hidden under the seat with the serial number filed off,” says Lieutenant Ian Bennett, spokesperson for Manenberg police.
