Police on the lookout for Rylands shooters

Police are seeking suspects linked a murder on Tuesday 21 June.

The shooting, in Hazel Road, saw a shopkeeper shot in the chest three times.

Athlone police spokesperson Sergeant Zita Norman says on arrival at the store officers were informed by witnesses that two unknown suspects entered the shop. One, wielding a firearm, asked “Is he the guy?” before firing three shots. The suspects then fled in a white Ford Bantam light delivery van. The victim was admitted to Gatesville Medical Centre where he succumbed to his injury. No arrests have been made.
