Police search for armed Athlone robber

A 29-year-old woman has been robbed in Bridgetown on Tuesday 12 July. According to Athlone police spokesperson Sergeant Zita Norman, at 18:25 the victim was approached by an unidentified man while she was walking down Kiewiet Street.

“The man cocked his firearm and threatened the woman and demanded that she hand over her belongings. The woman then gave the man her handbag containing her identity document, Mobicell cellphone and Sassa card. The value of the items came to R960,” states Norman.

The woman sustained no injuries and a case of armed robbery has been opened for investigation.
