Athlone police are on the lookout for a suspect in the murder of a 28-year-old man which took place in Gatesville last Monday.

According to Manenberg police spokesperson Seargent Zita Norman, officers were called to Klipfontein Road where they found the victim lying with a bloodied mouth and upper body. “It was initially believed that the victim was beaten with a stick, but then stab wounds were then observed,” states Norman.

The victim was taken to Vincent Palotti Hospital where he was declared dead by the hospital staff. “The victim was identified as a known sliding door operator on a taxi,” confirms Norman.
