Two Tafelsig men have been arrested on charges of illegal possession of drugs.

On Tuesday last week a 22-year-old man was arrested while police were on patrol in Ararat Street at 16:50. “The members spotted a man selling goods that he hid behind an electricity box. When the officers approached him they searched the place and found the suspect hidden 68 stoppe of dagga,” says police spokesperson Lieutenant Ian Williams.

On Wednesday, a 33-year-old man was arrested for possession of tik. “At about 01:15 police were doing patrols in Martine Street when they noticed a man that seemed to be walking around aimlessly. When police searched the suspect they found 42 bankies of tik in his possession,” says Williams.

Both suspects have since appeared in court.

Williams continues: “If you or anyone you know suffer from drug addiction then please contact Sanca or your local rehabilitation centre. Drug and alcohol addiction fuels crime such as domestic violence, assault, theft and robbery as addicts are desperate for money to support their habit. Help is available.

“People found in possession of illegal substances such as dagga and tik will be criminally prosecuted.”
