Wynberg police arrested a man for the possession of drugs and an unlicensed firearm in a parking area in Milbank Road last week.

Officers were busy doing crime prevention duties in the area on Thursday 21 July when they noticed a white Toyota Conquest in the parking area.

Warrant Officer Goliath Botman, Warrant Officer Silvino Davids and Constable Yusuf Williams approached the car. “In the vehicle there was a man lying on the driver’s seat and also a lady on the passenger’s seat,” says Wynberg police spokesperson Lieutenant Ntomboxolo Nqunqeka.

“As they approached the driver of the vehicle he seemed nervous. Botman noticed a solid object on the left side pocket of his jacket.”

The officers searched the man and in his possession several drugs in his possession. Police found, in the suspect’s possession, a black pouch with seven small packets of tik, two bigger packets of tik, four dagga stops, a medium bankie of dagga, one mandrax tablet, three units of ecstacy units, cash to the value of R11 140. They also found a revolver pistol – that was linked to Claremont case – five rounds of ammunition and a magazine.

“He was arrested for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and drugs,” says Nqunqeka. He appeared in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court yesterday (Monday).
