Following swift and thorough investigation by a detective of Strandfontein Police Station, one family can breathe a sigh of relief, knowing their attackers are behind bars.

The Mitchell’s Plain Regional Court sentenced AbdulDullar Stemmet (28) and Junaid Abduragman (26) to 10 year’s prison on Tuesday.

The pair received 10 years’ imprisonment for housebreaking and robbery and five years for kidnapping in April 2014. The sentences will run concurrently.

A mother was at home in Strandfontein with her two children, aged three and five years, when she was woken by a noise at 02:15. She saw four unknown men inside her house.

The robbers had forced open the sliding door to gain entry to the house.

Two of the men were armed. The robbers ransacked the Strandfontein home.

When they noticed her, she was threatened with a firearm and they demanded she hand over her jewellery and money.

The robbers locked the children inside the house and led the woman to her car in the garage. Her belongings had already been packed into her car and she was forced to drive the two men to Tafelsig.

After the two robbers got off at different points in the area, the mother drove to the police station.

Following investigation by detective Constable Elton Williams, two of the robbers were arrested and found guilty.
