Adams Farm Home in Plumstead will be celebrating their centenary next year and to have a blast on the day they are calling on people to support them as they do their fundraisings.

To kick off their fundraising efforts they invited the Constantiaberg District Scouts to join them in an event.

They day was filled with different activities and games that were played on the lovely grassed garden at the home. The weather was very good which added to the fun afternoon.

An entrance fee of R20 per person was charged and everyone including the residents played the table and field games. They were assisted by the Scouts and Cubs from the groups in their district: 1st Plumstead, 2nd Plumstead, 1st Wetton, 1st Naruna and Constantia and 1st Belvedere.

1st Wetton ran a refreshment stall and the cubs handed out handmade gifts to the residents as part of their community service.

The sound of happy children’s voices playing the games was enjoyed by the residents who are all intellectually disabled.

Through this event they introduced a section of their community to come and mix with the residents and get to know what goes on behind the wall which they see when driving over Plumstead bridge.

The Constantiaberg district commissioner Ebrahim Abrahams gave a vote of thanks to the Adams Farm staff and the scouts who assisted and said they would like to do it again. They even had some offers to volunteer at the home in the future.
