Search on for park robbery suspects

2016-06-28 06:00

SANParks say they are not taking a robbery incident in the Vlakkenberg area on Saturday 18 June lightly.

Merle Collins, spokesperson for SANParks, says: “Any criminal activity in the park is a concern for the park management.”

Two trail runners were robbed of their belongings by three men with knives. “No injuries were sustained by the runners and the matter has been reported to the Diep River Police,” she says.

No arrests have been made, but they are working closely with the police to effect an arrest. No other incidents have taken place in this area in that last year, and Collins says they are constantly improving their safety and security efforts. “As a member of the Table Mountain Safety Forum we are part of a group who pool resources to curb crime in the park.”
