Tom Stoppard’s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead opens at the Masque Theatre in Muizenberg on Friday 21 July.

The action follows the musings and misadventures of two minor characters in Hamlet, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern (played by Matthew Roy and Willie Blignaut respectively). Having been mysteriously summoned to the Danish court, Hamlet’s two former schoolmates find themselves alternately enlightened and confounded as they flit in and out of the events of Shakespeare’s famous tragedy.

The cast for Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead also includes numerous familiar names to Masque audiences, including Patrick Jordi and Kim R2. Directing the piece is Jenny Brandt, who brought the thought-provoking, postmodern work Top Girls to the stage last year.

Brimming with wit, this staging of the absurdist tragicomedy is presented by the Claremont Dramatic Society.

It runs until Saturday 29 July, excluding Sunday to Tuesday.V Book through your nearest Computicket or the Masque on 021 788 6999. Alternatively, email bookings@masquetheatre.co.za.
