Local performer Jayson King has brought artists from around the country together to perform Solid Gold Jukebox at the Joseph Stone auditorium in Athlone on Tuesday 29 December.

The cast for this production includes SA’s Got Talent runner-up Mady, who’ll be swopping her usual police uniform for a glitzy ballgown when she performs the hits of icons like Whitney Houston, Shirley Bassey and Celine Dion.

Port Elizabeth songbird Charmain Allison will bring another icon to the stage. From her hairdo to her legs, Charmain impersonates Tina Turner.

They’ll be joined by a regular on Jayson’s shows in Gauteng, Steve Ashley from Johannesburg, the former lead singer of local 60s group the Staccatos. He is noted to be SA’s best Tom Jones impersonator at the ripe old age of 67.

Popular Cape Town trio the Queens, made up of Sumaya Hendricks, Ruth Knight and Christine Matthee will bring the likes of the Supremes, Three Degrees, Destiny’s Child and solo names to the stage, while Gypsy Latino will play favourites like “Volare”, “Bamboleo” and “Hotel California”.

The six-piece act is made up of acoustic guitarists and percussionists Nizaam Deen Moses, Danial Masood, Abdulla Jacoby, Brandon Adamo and Jayson himself, led by 18-year-old Bruno Hernandez from Mitchell’s Plain.

The audience can also look forward to “drag artist extraordinaire” Anastacia Khan, who will bring some great female artists to life. V Tickets for the show cost R120, with discounts available for group bookings of 10 or more. Call 021 633 2949 to reserve a seat.
