Crawford residents were stunned by an unusual sight on Saturday afternoon.

A silver car was seen stuck in a sinkhole in Burwood Road on Saturday 20 August.

Lansdowne police spokesperson Sergeant Nkululeko Mnyaka confirms there were no injuries.

“Lansdowne police officers were on the scene at Burwood Road in Crawford where the vehicle went into sinkhole. The vehicle was stuck and the driver was rescued by Shaza Security a few minutes after the vehicle sunk in,” Mnyaka says.

He adds: “At this stage is not sure how sinkhole got there.”

At the time of going to print, Mnyaka confirms the hole was not yet fixed.

According to a Facebook post the car’s wheel got stuck in a pothole before the hole got bigger.
