Spurs Ladies thrash Virgo

Spurs Ladies trashed Virgo Ladies 3-0 in a Sasol Safa Cape Town regional women’s league fixture at William Herbert sports ground on Saturday.

From the start of the match the hosts gave off hot steam. Erin Adams opened their account early in the game.

The visitors’ resistance was too weak for Virgo’s team determination.

Astrid van Kesteren tightened the ropes further for Virgo when she scored a brilliant goal.

Late in the second half, Adams again scored with steady confidence.

Ikamva FC easily disposed off Dangerous Heroes 5-0 in their match at Nyanga Stadium on Saturday.

Annelisa Makeleni (two goals), Pozisa Dipa, Siviwe Tyaliti and Babalwa Mteto scored for the hosts.

Portia United beat Southern Stars 4-1 in their encounter at Mandela Park on ­Saturday.

Nomthandaza Kubheka (two goals), Andisiwe Bangani and Thuliswa Nyumbeka scored for the hosts.

Andisiwe Feni restored some of the pride of Southern Stars.

UWC Ladies were not happy when their game against Santos Ladies was called off due to inadequate field conditions at the Santos Academy grounds.

The students, currently the log leaders, were upset after the hosts failed to prepare the field.

Nathan Peskin, UWC’s head coach, said: “According to the rules, if the field is unplayable, the team responsible for the preparation of the field loses the points; that’s what we expect.”

ABC Motsepe Cape TownGrassy Park hammered Zizwe United 3-1 in an ABC Motsepe Western Cape fixture at Solo sports field in Retreat on Friday night.

Grassy Park played attacking soccer and were eager to salvage home turf ­advantage.

Abdul Moosa, Grassy Park’s front striker, had ball composure. His brace of goals dumped the visitors after they failed to play with their magic movements.

The hosts were unstoppable. Alfonso Fraser sealed the victory for his team. Anga Dambile scored the consolation goal for Zizwe.

Hout Bay United FC narrowly nailed archrivals Santos 1-0 in Athlone Stadium on Thursday night. Santos were favourites to win this crucial fixture but were let down by their front strikers who squandered several chances.

Gavin Hammers, the agile Hout Bay striker, steered his troops to a superb 3-point triumph.

The Magic narrowly defeated Atlantic Nacional 1-0 in a nail-biting fixture.

Therlo Moosa, the brilliant Magic striker, lifted the spirits within his camp when he scored a powerful volley to cap a tough victory.

Royal Blues whipped Barcelona FC in a tense fixture at Rustdene Stadium on Saturday.

The Blues kept their concentration while Barcelona were frustrated by a lack of experience against a more disciplined home side.

Justin van Wyk, the strong right winger with a fast pace, scored a splendid goal for his team in the dying minutes of this important home game.
