Motorists are warned to be careful when parking their cars at Stadium on Main in Claremont after a car’s hubcaps were stolen there two weeks ago.

Manya Bredell says all four his hubcaps were stolen off his Toyota Etios during the day. He says it is alleged that thieves target the parking lot because most motorists who use it leave their cars for a long time and the security system is not tight.

“While I realise that the public parks there at their own risk, I do not feel safe using that parking lot anymore. I reported the incident to the office management and security. There was nothing much they could do for me except take down my details and suggest I report it to the police but I did not.

“It takes too much time to report it,” says Bredell.

“I wanted to lay a formal complaint. They apologised and put me onto the security guard who said I should report it to the police. He did take down my details in a little notebook in case he comes across anything but I doubt if I will hear anything further from them.”

He says he had not heard of other robberies or thefts there.

Stadium on Main manager Anel Bridges says the theft was reported to the centre management. She confirms Bredell was advised by security to report the theft to the police.

She explains that there are currently about 660 monthly renters who park their cars there every day. They have experienced minimal incidents, she says.

“We assure all patrons of our best endeavours to secure all areas of the building and the parkade at all times,” Bridges says.
