The 14th Suidoosterfees is almost upon Capetonians, with the popular annual cultural event set to take place from 27 April to 1 May.

This year’s theme, “Legends”, honours well-known South African artists in different genres of arts and culture.

Suidoosterfees will be hosted at Artscape and promises to deliver “a legendary feast” with productions that include a Bollywood dance show, drama and literature, an art exhibition, comedy and revue, light music and jazz and classical music.

Singers Coenie de Villiers, Karin Kortje and Karin Hougaard will be seen in music and dance extravaganza Kunstreffers: Concert of hope on Thursday 27 April.

Live love Bollywood, with the Taare Bollywood performance troupe, is a 75-minute dance show with “vibrant music, fast-paced choreography and striking costumes”, according to organisers on Friday 28 April.

On Monday 1 May, the three divas Gloria Bosman, Vicky Sampson and Amanda Strydom will be performing together for the first time, singing some of their most popular songs.

The internationally acclaimed Cape Town Tango Ensemble is the one and only orchestra of its sort on African soil. A tango story on Thursday 27 April will take its audience on a journey of traditional tangos.

Bottomless Coffee Band will be making its debut at Suidoosterfees on Saturday 29 April. The beguiling Esté Rabé, who has a classical background, compliments her rock-and-roll husband Lourens Rabé.

Musiek Legendes Roulette with Quanita Adams and Gary Naidoo is an extravaganza where audiences will learn more about local and international musical legends and can be seen on 29 and 30 April.

Suidoosterfees gives an option of 20% discount on certain productions as a fundraiser opportunity to organisations for group bookings of 20 people or more.
