The Mitchell’s Plain Women’s Network made the most of Women’s Month by giving back to others.

On Wednesday 10 August the women visited a woman who has volunteer at the Mitchell’s Plain Police Station for eight years who recently become the proud owner of an RDP house in Hermanus.

The women paid her a visit as a token of appreciation with a few gifts to present a surprise to her.

Their intention was to promote team building and create conducive working environment despite the work pressure which creates a good relationship among members.

The women’s network was established to develop and support new female police officers so as to keep them strong. The motive is to showcase women’s ability to enforce the law and serve the people.

“There is so much to be done, for example gender-based violence still needs to be unpacked and other concerns, given the history of policing where females were not allowed to enlist in the police,” says police spokesperson Captain Ian Williams.

“We welcome each and every business enterprise or community that is willing to support the Mitchell’s Plain Women’s Network , for we want to see this project going bigger and bigger.”
