Police have arrested a 35-year-old man for the possession of an illegal firearm in Beacon Valley.

Today (7 April) at 09:20 Mitchell’s Plain police arrested the alleged gang member in Kerrem Street when officers were doing a routine crime prevention patrol and spotted the suspect walking down the street.

The suspect was stopped and searched and police discovered a Walther 7.65 pistol with two live rounds of ammunition in his possession.
 
The suspect will appear in court on Monday on charges relating to possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
