Teen killed in gang shooting

A teenager from Ashley Court in Lavender Hill died after he was shot several times in his head and back last Wednesday.

Steenberg police spokesperson Warrant Officer John Bartlett says police officers responded to a shooting in Harley Street at about 19:55.

“It is alleged that the teen was chased by four members of the Junky Funky Kids gang. The deceased ran into a premises and the suspects caught up with him and fired several shots at him. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his head and back. The victim was declared dead on the scene by paramedics.

“Two cartridges and one bullet fragment was found on the crime scene. The motive for the shooting is gang related and no arrests have been made as yet,” says Bartlett.V Anyone with information on the murder should call Steenberg police on 021 702 9000 or Crime Stop on 0860 010 111.
