Teens with gun arrested after shooting

2017-04-18 06:01

Two teens were arrested for the possession of an unlicenced firearm and ammunition in Lavender Hill on Sunday 9 April.

The teens, a boy and a girl, were arrested after police responded to a shooting at Muir Court.

Steenberg police spokesperson Warrant Officer John Bartlett says the two were running towards the police in Grindal Avenue, but when they spotted the police they started to walk fast.

“A female officer approached the woman as she was holding her stomach after seeing the police. The officer unzipped her jacket and found a firearm with one round of ammunition in the chamber.

“The firearm is a black Waffenfabrik Mauser Oberndorf am Neckar firearm with a serial number with eight 9mm rounds of ammunition.

“They were arrested,” he says.

The two appeared in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court last Tuesday.
