Capetonians are in for a treat this festive season with three ballets for the whole family at the Artscape Theatre.

Presented by Cape Town City Ballet, first on the menu is everyone’s favourite Christmas ballet, The Nutcracker, next up is Night and Day and children can look forward to Humpty Dumpty and Friends.

The Nutcracker The Nutcracker will once again enthral young and old with its Christmas-themed story until Thursday 24 December,.

The popular annual “fairy parade” will be held on Thursday 24 December,following the 14:00 performance of The Nutcracker. Children are invited to dress as their favourite fairytale character and parade onto the stage to meet the dancers and receive a gift from Father Christmas.

Cole Porter tunesNight and Day opens with a special gala performance on New Year’s Eve.

Cape Town City Ballet puts a glamorous spin on the life of legendary American songwriter Cole Porter with a selection of his most memorable tunes. Audiences will enjoy songs like “Let’s Misbehave”, “Too Darn Hot”, “Every Time We Say Goodbye” and of course, “Night and Day”, while classical ballet meets jazz and tap dance in scenes created by top South African choreographers.

Night and Day runs at Artscape until 10 January and then transfers to Maynardville amphitheatre from 24 January to 21 February with performances on Sundays only.

Kids’ timeIn the world of Humpty Dumpty and Friends, everyone lives happily ever after.

From Tuesday 5 to Friday 8 January, evergreen nursery rhymes like “Humpty Dumpty”, “Hey Diddle Diddle, The Cat and the Fiddle” and “Old MacDonald” will meet “Jack and Jill”, “Little Miss Muffet” and the “Itsy Bitsy Spider” in holiday fun for children and the young at heart.V Tickets for all three productions are available from Computicket or Artscape dial-a-Seat on 021 421 7695.
