Police in Grassy Park are calling on community members to help them fight crime in the area by giving information that can lead to more arrests.

Constable Danovan Prins from the policing precinct explains thatpolice arrested an alleged dagga dealer thanks to a tip-off.

“On Saturday officers were patrolling in the area when they received information that a man was dealing drugs from Progress Flats in Lake Road,” he says.

“The officers reacted to this information and it led to the arrest of a 31-year-old Malawian,” says Prins.

“During their search the officers found dagga with an estimated street value of R18 000 hidden in a cupboard.”

Prins adds that the police continue to encourage the public to be their eyes and ears in the community to fight crime.

“People keep on telling us that we do nothing, but arrests like this one prove that we are serious about reacting to their information,” he says.

“With [the public’s] help we can make a difference to keep these criminals off the streets and ensure a better life for everyone in our society.”
