Turfhall sports complex will be abuzz on Sunday, as is the case every year, when the curtain of the softball season comes down with the knockout finals.

The women’s super league will see a repeat of last year’s final when league champions Glenthorn A’s take on current knockout title holders Falcons.

The draw in the men’s major league favoured Pirates, who only had to play bottom of the table St Martins to reach the finals. They take on the might of Hamiltons in this year’s final.

Hamiltons had to cross swords with Devonshire Rovers and Westridge Yankees to reach the final. Hamiltons will also contest the first league final against Khayelitsha Eagles.

In the men’s second league Tantasport comes to grips with Khayelitsha Super Stars.

Old foes Lavender Hill and Heideveld Yankees meet once again in the women’s major league final.

The Hill completely overshadowed its archrival this year, winning all three league matches.

Tygerberg will find Blackheath a stubborn opponent in its quest for a first league double win.

Meanwhile, Glenthorn A’s cruised past St Martins in the league competition.

St Martins, however, made amends for its poor showing against the league champions when it beat Kenfac Phillies 2-1 on Sunday.

Falcons scored a total of 30 runs in their two games this weekend. On Saturday some sloppy fielding by Tantasport saw Falcons racing to a 5-0 lead in the first inning. Falcons eventually won the game 8-0. On Sunday Falcons destroyed bottom of the table Normies 22-0.

Tantasport continue to look over its shoulder at Kuils River Cougars in the women’s fourth league.

This is the only league not concluded. It will go down to the wire when Tanta and Cougars face Khayelitsha Super Stars and Panthers, respectively, on Saturday.
