Beware, the schoolboys in the blue and white jerseys are on a mission in the MRP Foundation High Schools Soccer League in Mitchell’s Plain following the latest round of matches at Westridge High School’s sport fields on Saturday.

The Strandfontein High side pulled off another giant act in slaying log leaders Portland High and ending their unbeaten run with a 4-2 victory.

The defeat for Anwar Ruiters’ Portland side, who have garnered six points from three assignments, meant that they move down to fifth position in the standings, while the Strandfontein “Sea Robbers”, who held a 3-0 margin lead at half-time, have slotted into fourth position, also with six points from their three outings.

Tyler Martin, Strandfontein’s assistant coach, says his side did not panic when they conceded two goals early in the second half.

“We had the game under control and were equally confident that our passing game had the better of the opposition. Our game plan was to play good brand of attacking football and knew if we play to our strength being our all out attack we would place our opponents under immense pressure.”

Martin said that as a result, they were full value for their victory.

Strandfontein High scored twice following a brace from Shevaugh Abrahams to open a 2-0 lead before the very talented influential Scott Williams, who again showed his mettle, scored the third and with Strandfontein dominating the game in the first stanza.

The proverbial writing seemed to be on the wall at that point, but the boys in the navy and gold jerseys staged a brief fightback to reply with two goals of their own through Leo McCleod and Donovan Maxwell. However, their joy would be stunted as Strandfontein added a fourth goal for good measure through Tyrell April.

Tafelsig making waves 2014 league champions Tafelsig High is starting to make waves in this season’s edition and kept their unbeaten record intact with a superb 3-1 win against Oval North High.

Andrew Geldenhuys’ Tafelsig schoolboy side lead the current standings with nine points from three matches. Emeraan Rayners (2) and Chadwin Johnson found the back of the net for the victors while Vincent Charles scored Oval North’s solidly goal.

Mondale throw 3-0 lead out of window Coach Nigel Crowie was left fuming after his Mondale High School team let a 3-0 lead slip against a never-say-die Spine Road High.

A tongue lashing from Spine Road High School’s sports master Alicia Campbell at half-time spurred the players on at the start of the second half and Spine Road turned the game on its head and clinched a point from this 3-3 thrilling draw.

Ismaa-eel Ockers (2) and Ethan Stellenboom scored for Mondale High in the first half, Cameron Kleinhans (2) and Nathaniel America equalised matters for Spine Road.

Westridge fire four past Lentegeur Westridge High School hit back with four goals without conceding any against Lentegeur High after losing 3-1 to Portland High the week before.

The 2004 and 2010 league champions under the guidance of coach Ismail Gasnola took out their frustrations on the schoolboys in the canary yellow and black-strip of Avril April.

Westridge High scored twice on with Thorne Muzammiel (2), Junaid Hajwanie and Lance Adamson leading their side on a 4-0 goal feast.

The results of the other four matches were: Beacon Hill High 3, Woodlands High 0; Aloe 1, Rocklands High 0; Cloetesville High 1, Glendale 0; Princeton 1, Cedar High 0.
