Watch US play for free

A local church will next week host a group of American actors who will be on stage in a free performance entitled Shotgun.

The drama is a stage production that originated in the San Francisco Bay area, off the west coast of the United States, where drug addiction, gangsterism and broken families are prevalent, says Victory Outreach pastor Nathan Asher.

“The drama brings to life the harsh realities of these lifestyles and exposes the deception that it accompanies and how young people are lured into those lifestyles, how gangs operate and plot against one another.

“But most important how change is able to come about through Jesus Christ, despite the madness,” says Asher.

Victory Outreach Mitchell’s Plain is funding the production of two shows, which will both be free.

“This drama is relevant to anyone caught up in drug addiction and gangsterism – the youth, parents and broken families.

“Our purpose for bringing the drama to Mitchell’s Plain is to address these ills that plague the area by presenting a message of change and offering a helping hand to the community to overcome the epidemic of drug addiction and gangsterism,” says Asher.

“The need is so great and we refuse to sit back and watch our community and even young people just throw away their lives.”

V The show will be staged at the Lentegeur Civic Centre on Wednesday 9 March at 19:00 and again at Princeton High School hall on Thursday 10 March at 19:00. Refreshments will be on sale and entry is free. For more information call 021 391 0442.
