Who will claim victory at this year’s Battle of the Titans?

Battle of the Titans has grown tremendously over the past four years – so much so that the show hosted by Body Building and Fitness South Africa (BBFSA) and Physical Culture Association (PCA) SA will now be a two-day event on 2 and 3 June at the Durbanville High School Auditorium.

The question on everyone’s lips is: Will Xolile Damba will be crowned as the ultimate titan when everything has been said and done?

Damba, who hails from Khayelitsha, has done the unthinkable by winning all four previous shows.

The show has truly grown year on year, not only in terms of the number of entries, but prizes and prize money as well.

Owner and promoter, Kevin Schwartz, says, “Battle of the Titans is something I hold close to my heart. It has been no easy task, let me tell you, and to see it grow the way it has with the support from sponsors, athletes and spectators has been nothing short of phenomenal. I have a 10-year business plan and I have broken each year’s record year on year.

“Being a promoter for the sport, I believe athletes should only get the best – not just at Titans but in all our PCA events throughout South Africa. I’m proud to say that we are one of the biggest prize money shows in the country, with prizes for the top three athletes in all the divisions. The overall winner will receive a cool R35 000 cash. All in all the prizes and prize money are worth more than R250 000. ‘Battle of the Titans – Let the Games Begin’ is now a registered brand. The Titans motto, ‘Titans stand with honour and respect’, is exactly that. Here we promote the sport and encourage amateur athletes to compete in all platforms of different federations.

“The show has shown considerable growth year on year. Last year we had a record number of athletes competing. Having a two-day event will make it more of a showcase,” says Schwartz.

The Friday will see the novice men, juniors, ladies’ beach bikini, ladies’ physique, couples, men’s beach model, men’s cover model and men’s muscle model divisions with their overall line-ups on stage.

Athlete registration is on Friday 3 June from 12:00 to 14:00 with the main show starting at 17:00. Registration for the Saturday is from 08:00 to 10:00, with the main show starting at 14:00. This will be where the big men collide for the ultimate prize. Ladies’ fitness bikini, men’s muscle model plus, classic body building, ladies’ fitness, ladies’ body fitness, masters senior men’s and overall titles will be decided. Both days will consist of live judging.

“The last two years the tickets were sold out, and we sadly had to show people away who wanted to attend. At the moment we are sitting on 40% sold out. I am happy to say ticket sales are moving well.

“Tickets are available from Computicket for one day or both at a discounted price,” says Schwartz. Visit www.battleofthetitans.co.za for more information.
