Comedy fans can look forward to a humoristic look at this past year – compliments of Stuart Taylor, Mel Jones and Oscar Petersen this festive season.

Following the success of his ninth one-man show Bespoke, comedian Stuart Taylor will be at the Baxter concert hall with his latest comedy production, Stuart Taylor’s 2015 in Revue, until 9 January.

Having recently scooped the Standard Bank Ovation Award for comedy at this year’s National Arts Festival, Stuart’s latest show looks at the highlights of the year, as well as the low lights – or rather the lack of lights, thanks to load-shedding.

The three the merrierThe show brings an actor, comedian and entertainer together to show the funny in life’s situations by reflecting personal stories, local and global attention grabbers, comedy sketches and the super-highway social media world we live in.

Stuart’s award-winning solo shows have seen him perform locally and abroad. His conversational comedic style has charmed audiences in maintaining that unique comedy experience.

Mel is no stranger to the comedy circuit, donning many hats as a comedian, MC and entertainer and award-nominated producer.

She’s a familiar voice on local radio and television and is well-known for her appearances on SABC.

Actor and stage performer Oscar will bring his own twist to the show. He’s best known among Cape Town audiences for co-creating and starring in the two-man comedy theatre series Joe Barber. His career in the entertainment industry spans over 20 years, having performed on stage, film and television.

The show is directed by Brent Palmer with additional material written by local comedians Martin Evans and Yaaseen Barnes. Martin, renowned for his originality, is described as “a cynical grouch with a sense of humour that’s intelligent and sophisticated”, while Yaaseen is a new rising talent on the local comedy scene and a master as a one-liner comedian.

Stuart Taylor’s 2015 in Revue will be on stage at the Baxter Tuesdays to Fridays at 20:15 with extra 17:15 performances on Saturdays. Tickets cost between R100 and R200 from Computicket. For discounted corporate or block bookings, fundraisers and charities, call Sharon on 021 680 3962 or Carmen on 021 680 3993 during office hours.
