THE 10th KZN South Coast Toy Run was a great success. It is run by Ramsgate Lions who collect toys for those less fortunate and vulnerable.

The initiative began on 31 October when the Lions and a group of South Coast bikers collected toys from Margate Primary and South City Christian College.

On Sunday a mass ride started with hundreds of bikers arriving at Southcoast Mall

Lion Wilma Nevin said each biker carried at least one toy, which varied from huge fluffy bears to books and paint sets.

At 9.30am they rode to Ramsgate with escort vehicles from Ugu and Wolf Security leading the way to ensure safe passage through the traffic.

“On arrival at the Ramsgate Community Centre the toys collected were placed next to the Christmas tree in a huge pile,” she said.

“After the collection the bikers relaxed and enjoyed the music, entertainment with food stalls, lucky draws and games further contributing to the charity efforts,” said Nevins

The Lions will be managing the distribution of the toys to child welfare centres over the next few weeks she said.

“To all those who gave so generously, thank you, and God bless,” said Nevins.
