AUTHORED by Wilbur Smith, Jane Goodall, Will Travers (Born Free), Bob Shacochis and many other famous characters, My Funny Africa is a collection of camp-fire stories orchestrated by Greer Noble, a published author and conservationist.

Mike Ballantine, who was a well known resident of Munster, co-edited the book with Noble, his wife of many years (greernoble.com)

Global awareness of the plight of Africa’s alarming demise of wildlife and its habitat, threatening many species with extinction, all too often portrays a picture of doom and gloom.

“My Funny Africa refreshingly illustrates the pleasure that was and still is enjoyed in Africa and, by inference, depicts the value of eco-tourism in preserving this magnificent heritage,” said Noble

She said the experiences of these extraordinary people, the love, passion, fun, laughter, shock, fear, disbelief and unique expressions are equally at risk of extinction as are certain species of wildlife.

With much of her own life spent in the bush, Noble recognised this and skillfully sourced the tales from these 50 adventurers, among them world famous conservationists, authors and legendary game-guides.

Noble said this rich treasury of over 180 exciting, mostly illustrated short stories provides entertainment for everyone, young and old, in this enlightening book - guaranteed to thrill all who’ve stood on African soil and captivate those who haven’t.

She said 10% of proceedings from the book will be donated to The Born Free Foundation.
