IT was great seeing so many people, braving the crowded eateries come out in numbers to support Africa Bike Week over the past weekend.

The Mass Ride was, and always has been (so I’ve been told), the highlight of the event. Being my first bike week experience, I now know what the hype is all about.

While all these festivities carried on in one part of the beautiful lower South Coast, Port Shepstone and Gamalakhe were venues for peace marches against Xenophobia. Things seem quiet on that front and we can only hope and pray that it stays that way.

Prayers go out to those who have been affected by the earthquake in Nepal. A Port Shepstone woman is one of them. She gave her encounter of what happened.

We hope that she and other South Africans return home safely
