A MARGATE mom, who made it to the top 100 in the Mrs South Africa pageant, says she is grateful for the experience, the people she has crossed paths with and working for a cause such as Cansa.

“I didn’t worry about the beauty, glitz and glamour. I just wanted to learn from the experience and help Cansa,” said Antya Roos.

The semi-finals were held at Emperor’s Palace last month.

“This pageant has opened so many doors for me and I have met wonderful people.”

Roos was given a special mention at the pageant.

“The CEO for Cansa acknowledged the work I had done for Cansa and that for me was the cherry on top,” said Roos.

Each finalist had to sell five cups and saucers as part of fundraising for Cansa. Roos sold 105.

“My friend, Chantelle Maree, has made it to the finals and I wish her the best of luck,” she said.

Another Port Shepstone-born beauty, Thando Mbhele-Sibotshiwe, is also a finalist.
