Fire dancers ‘light up’ auditions

2015-06-11 06:01

A FIRE dance performance crew, comprising children and teenagers, aged seven to 17 represented the Aunty Yo Poi Fun And Fire Academy over the weekend at the SA’s Got Talent auditions in Durban.

“After hours of hard training for a few weeks before the audition, the fire crew produced an excellent fire performance to the South African song Wave your Flag, which was remixed by DJ Gqom Dmittrios Zwiegelaar,” said instructor Yo Zwiegelaar.

The older fire crew children set out to Durban early on Friday evening to ensure a position in the queues. The “little ones” arrived at 2am on Saturday.

After much excitement, the determined fire crew slept on the pavement in the queue outside the audition until sunrise.

“I believe our fire performance crew has what it takes to make it through all the rounds to the final, but it’s going to take dedication and hard work,” said Zwiegelaar.

“I think they are fantastic.”
