Hibberdene task team arrests robbers

A TASK team from the Hibberdene SAPS, comprising Sergeant Eugene­ Blankenberg and Constables Kavithasen Naidoo, Thulaz Mayeza and Simingaye Mavundla, arrested four men in the Hibber- dene area last week.

The men were all charged with house robbery and appeared in court.

Nhlanhla Dlamini (24), Mthokozisi Dlamini (27), Nthuthuko Nene (24) and Lungelo Sishi (19) are still in custody and the case has been remanded to 30 April for a bail application.

Nhlanhla was also charged with possession of drugs as several slopes of dagga was found in his possession.

The four are related to a house break-in in Hibberdene in April.

A 37-year-old man was attacked in his home in Nomakhazana location.

“He was sleeping when he was awoken by a knock on the door.

“Five unknown men, wearing balaclavas, kicked open the door,” said police spokesperson Lieutenant­-Colonel Zandra Wiid.

One was armed with a firearm and the other attacked the man with a knife.

“The suspects then tied his hands with shoe laces and covered him with a blanket,” said Wiid­.

They later fled the room with many items.

A case of house robbery was opened at the Hibberdene SAPS.
