“I’m sure there’s going to be more drug dealers in the area now.

“The police must assist as our families lives are in danger.”

Ward councillor for the area, Ajith Rajaram, said he was aware of the issue and had received complaints in this regard.

“I have brought this up at policing­ meetings and I sent an email to the Hibiscus Coast Municipality last week,” he said.

“I’m now waiting for feedback and for a way forward.”

Police spokesperson, Lieu- tenant­-Colonel Zandra Wiid said Port Shepstone SAPS conducted operations recently in the Marburg area and seven women were arrested for loitering, and charged.

“They all paid fines and were released,” said Wiid.

Last weekend women were charged for loitering. They also paid fines.

“We will continue to do similar operations on an ongoing basis,” she said.
