WITHOUT an official statement it appears as though investigations have been concluded on the suspension of South Coast Development Agency (SCDA) CEO, Gcina Mazibuko, months ago, amid allegations of the mishandling of the agency’s finances.

Joy Crutchfield however, confirmed that the CEO has been released from his job.

“An agreement was reached that the CEO leaves his position at SCDA,” said Crutchfield.

On Tuesday Ugu District Munici- pality officially announced the appointment­ of non-executive directors­ to the board of the South Coast Development Agency.

In a statement the municipality said the new SCDA board held its first meeting on Friday, 10 July.

The municipality announced the newly appointed non-executive members of the board - Sandile Dlomo, Dr Sipho Nzimande, Joy Crutchfield, B. Zulu, Hopson Shezi, Lindelani Shezi, Vijay Naidoo and Dr Ephraim Zungu.

The statement indicates that at the meeting nominations for the position of chairperson of the board were made and it was unanimously agreed to elect Nzimande to the position of chairperson of the South Coast Development Agency.

The agency is a municipal entity established by Ugu District Municipality for the purpose of promoting economic development, facilitation of private and public investments and management of the implementation of sustainable and viable local economic development projects in the district.

The municipality said the board will also provide leadership and strategic­ direction to the management and staff of the South Coast Development Agency.

The board of directors consists of peole who have an expertise in business and professional people­ who have knowledge in law, HR, governance, accounting, property development, maritime environment, manufacturing industry and the agricultural sector.

“The new members are esteemed individuals of high social standing with a passion to employ their know-ledge and expertise for the betterment of the development of our district,” said municipal spokesperson France Zama
