THE KZN Professional Golfer’s Association (PGA) Plate was hosted at San Lameer Country Club over three days last week.

A total of 64 players competed - 16 professionals and 48 amateurs - over 36 holes. The professionals competed in an individual stableford competition and with their teams in a fourball alliance competition.

The main objective for hosting this event is to raise funds for the KZN PGA region and San Lameer once again proved to be the ideal venue to host this event for the second year in a row.

The management and staff worked hard, provided excellent, friendly service, fantastic food and even some live entertainment on the Sunday evening that went on late into the night.

The professionals competed for a prize purse of R15 000 and the alliance winners received wonderful prizes down to seventh place, thanks to the generosity of a multitude of sponsors who helped make the event the success that it was and it also meant the KZN PGA region managed to save almost R10 000 for their fund account.

Awesome weather provided great playing conditions on Sunday and Monday. Andy Bean scored 37 points taking the lead after day one and Hans Jonck’s team with Marie Robinson, Jacques Blaauw and Derrek Schullard were leading with 91 points after day one in the team competition.
