Warriors back on WINNING ways

2015-05-28 06:00

THE South Coast Warriors won by a decisive 64-7 against Durban Harlequins in a match at Douglas Mitchell Sports grounds on Saturday. First-team coach Christ Henderson said the win lifted the teams spirits after they suffered their first defeat against the Jaguars two weeks ago.

“We played well and deserved the win. It lifted the club spirits and kept our league title defending still alive. We know we have to be on the ball for the rest of the season and we’re going to have to be 100% ready for our next games.” The Warriors play against UKZN Durban at home in Douglas Mitchell this Saturday.

Men of the match for forwards was captain Juan van den Berg and overall man of the match was Marcell Sass.

The second team’s match was cancelled due to Harlequins withdrawal from the match after they failed to put a team together. The Warriors second team therefore got full points.

The Warriors third team won their match against last seasons champions, Scottsburgh, at home in a tight and hard battle. The win put this team first on the log. The Warriors third team is the only unbeaten team in the league. In the match, the Warriors were 17-0 ahead at half time after Kayd du Toit opened with the first try in the first seven minutes of the match. The second try came courtesy of full-back Tienie Viljoen and the third one was by hooker Jacques Coetzee with Theo Nicholls converting. Main man of the match was Ryan Weir and forward man of the match was Renaldo Brierley
