Animal-rescue charity shop seeks donations

2016-06-09 06:00

ANIMAL rescue NPO, 4 Paws and a Tale Rescue, is appealing to the public to assist with donations, and asking for support at it’s charity shop in Thira Village, 142 Scott Street, in Scottburgh.

Founder of 4 Paws and a Tale Rescue and charity shop owner, Nicky Koekemoer told Fever the shop opened in December 2015 and since then things have “been going well”.

“We are currently feeding 155 dogs and 35 cats each day and a few found on beach and in parks, and without the support of the community, we are unable to do so,” she said.

Koekemoer said they are grateful to the community who support them in the shop because items sold raise funds for vet and food costs.

She said she realises that as prices rise, people find it difficult, and this also applies when it comes to caring for animals.

“We would also welcome donations of dog food, which can be dropped off at the shop.

“It is our dream to have a permanent rescue centre where we can house abandoned and neglected animals. A dream that has been put on the back-burner due to a lack of funding. We need the support of the community for the sake of the animals, that know nothing, but suffering.”

The charity shop is open from 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday and 9am to 12pm on Saturdays, which is when donations can be dropped off.
