Annual beach festival renamed

TALKS about a “Boxing Day Beach Festival” have been doing the rounds for a few months and that the organiser, Cyassound Holdings, was going to make a presentation to the Hibiscus Coast Municipality co-ordinating committee in this regard.

At the time a venue had not been decided on, but St Michael’s was one suggestion.

However, over the years St Michael’s residents have complained about the noise, littering, overcrowding and disruptions at the annual Beach Explosion which was previously held there.

Now the festival has been renamed “The Hibiscus Coast Beach Festival” and will start at 8am, which should eliminate residents being kept awake during the night by the festival.
Mildred Dlamini from Cyassound Holdings said they have spoken to residents and assured them they will comply with the laws of Section 15.

“We have communicated with residents and an agreement was reached that the festival will start at 8am and finish at 11pm, so at 11pm everything will be closed,’ said Dlamini.

“We will be having a children’s sections to keep them entertained and there will also be sports activities and performances from local artists,” she said.

Artists include Nathi Mankayi-Nomvula, Oskido, Dumi Mkokstad, Mzizi, Professor, DJ Qhawe, DJ 101, DJ Silwane, DJ Bruce, Sosha and Bulistic and new jazz artist Siyalithatha.

Entry to the festival is free.
