CANSA held its annual Staff and Volunteers Awards last Tuesday at the Cansa Durban Care Centre, where they recognised hard-working volunteers and staff who go out of their way to support Cansa.

Many volunteers from the South Coast were recognised for their enthusiasm, energy and drive in assisting Cansa.

They were also commended for creating awareness and raising funds for the organisation.

Ntombifuthi Ngubane from Umzumbe was awarded for “creating awareness”. Michelle Carless was awarded for theCansa Relay for Lifeinitiative, and Ryan Ringo of Umthunzi Hotel and Conference Centre was awarded for hosting Cansa’s special events.

Debbie and Michelle Cuppan were awarded The Spirit of Cansa Award and the Precious Gumede from Fever, was awarded for the marketing and coverage of Cansa.

Cansa Port Shepstone’s Sesethu Senene said Cansa South Coast serves people from Amanzimtoti to Port Edward, having limited staff.

Cansa relies on the assistance of the volunteers to help fulfil the organisation’s services.

“We also rely on the volunteers to assist us when creating awareness and to spread the word about our awareness campaigns we have scheduled in our year plan.

“As Cansa South Coast, we would like to recognise and thank all our volunteers for their exceptional commitment in assisting us in the communities they live in,” said Senene.
