THE Circus Royale at the Hibiscus Mall parking lot in the Easter school holidays came to an end on Tuesday and the organisers said the South Coast experience was unforgettable.

Mongolia-born Saruul Paatsai and Javkhlan Bolbayar, who brought the circus to the South Coast have been in the circus business for 28 years and said their love for entertaining motivated them to bring their best performance to the show.

Wearing a blue T-shirt with the words “Keep calm and join the circus” on it, co-owner Bolbayar said even after all these years constant travelling was one of the best things about being in the circus.

“We are based in Pietermaritzburg, but we travel all over KwaZulu-Natal. After Margate we’re moving to Port Edward.

“We enjoy doing shows, but one major challenge we always encounter is finding a venue,” said Paatsai.

Paatsai said the South Coast shows had everything a traditional circus can offer, including clowns, acrobats, horse riding, juggling and animal tricks.

“The reception we got from the South Coast was amazing and we can’t wait to come back,” he said.

At the show on Saturday was Thandokazi Mgedezi and her family from Margate.

“It was a lot of fun. We came here for the children, but we also ended up enjoying it,” said Mgedezi.
