Deadline for Mayoral award nominees extended

HIBISCUS Coast council approved­ in a council meeting at Uvongo Community hall that the deadline for nominations for the annual Mayoral Community­ Awards be extended to 10 June.

The extension will afford the public to nominate individuals and organisations who are doing great work to touch the lives of ordinary citizens within our municipal jurisdiction.

Hibiscus Coast Municipality Deputy Mayor Johnny De Wet, reported in a media briefing that a few categories are open.

De wet said in the organisations categories nominations are open for organisations who promote agricultural enterprise, successful emerging SMMEs, education, best ECD centre (urban and rural), best Abet centre, best education-related initiative, health, best community policing forum (urban and rural) and best internship programme (highest intake).

“We urge the public to ensure they enter their nominees in the right category,” he said.

Individuals can also be nominated in the following sub- sections - arts and culture, sport, act of bravery and best local informal entrepreneur.

Nomination forms are still available and can be collected from all libraries and Thusong Centres or downloaded from the municipal website www.hcm.gov.za
