District, local municipalities’ road shows start

2017-04-13 06:00

THE Ugu District Municipality and local municipalities have started taking the draft budget to the community for comment and input.

This is part of the Local Government Municipal Systems Act 32 of 2000, where municipalities encourage and create conditions for the community to participate in the affairs of the municipality.

On Tuesday district officials joined Umzumbe Municipality where the new Ugu mayor Cllr Mondli Chiliza and leadership handed over food parcels to five families and gardening tools to another five families.

A statement released by the district municipality, Ugu and its family of local municipalities’ public representatives said they are interacting with communities to identify their service delivery needs during this period., and communities are therefore requested to utilise this democratic process for maximum benefit.
