TWO men were arrested for being in possession of drugs on Tuesday and Wednesday.

On Wednesday morning three constables from Port Shepstone - Travis Dickens, Raphael Smithwick and Mzakwe Makana - arrested a 26-year- old man with 109 mandrax tablets and 201 straws of heroin in the Port Shepstone taxi rank. The suspect will be charged with dealing in drugs.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said investigations are under way to identify the supplier.

The three constables also found 72 mandrax tablets abandoned at the Port Shepstone bus rank on Tuesday and in another incident arrested a man (32) with six straws of heroin.

“The same members then acted on information and arrested a male suspect (27) at Port Edward taxi rank the same day and he was found with 59 parcels of dagga, weighing 200g. Both the suspects will appear in court soon.

“On Tuesday again the constables arrested a woman in her twenties for a robbery case which happened at 8am that day.

It is alleged that the male complainant was at Watterson Street in Marburg when he was approached by two females who threatened him with a knife and took his Nokia cell-phone,” said
Wiid.

She said Dickens, Smithwick and Makana went in search of the suspects and arrested one. The other suspect is still at large.

The arrested suspect will be charged with robbery and will appear in court soon.
