ESAYIDI TVET College and the Ugu District Municipality awarded 64 students with accredited skills development certificates in various sectors at an awards ceremony at Uvongo town hall on Tuesday.

The students from this skills programme are now qualified in plumbing, gate automation and other skills, which they can use to find employment.

Sipho Khuzwayo from Ugu LED office said government has mandated to ensure that young people are skilled so they are employable.

Speaking on behalf of Esayidi, Dr P.T. Mgadi congratulated the students on their achievement and said the college is happy to partner with the municipality.

“We are very proud that you have completed the programme.

“However, we encourage you to go out and find jobs or even start your own businesses and create employment opportunities,” he said.

Mngadi said the college is tired of students who are “training hoppers”, meaning those start one programme and when they finish they start another.

“We want you to go out and make use of the skills you have,” he said.

Esayidi assured the students that it will assist them with looking for employment through its work link services at the Oslo Beach campus.
