Wyles told the Fever on Wednesday that he has had several bids, but nothing has been finalised yet.

The farm also has a banana plantation, which stretches for a few kilometres, but is unkept at the moment, however, somebody is harvesting the bananas.

“It’s such a pity because all the infrastructure is still in place and someone could get this business revived.

“People will have jobs and there won’t be any vagrants on the property,” said Irven.

In the middle of the banana plantation is a block of six informal settlements where, the Fever was told, seven people live.

When the Fever visited the farm on Tuesday, there were two women and a man present.

“We have been living here for two weeks and we have permission from the man living in the main house to do so,” said the one woman.

She said nobody pays any form of rent and they are allowed to take water from the main house on the farm as it still had a supply.

The house also has electricity.

It was evident to the Fever that a room next to the main house is also being occupied illegally as there was clothing and food inside.
