THE Shelly Beach Lions held another free blood sugar screening clinic at the Shelly Centre on Saturday.

The event was well supported and in total 155 free blood tests were performed. Out of those, 17 known diabetics tested out of normal range and nine people tested out of range and were referred for further medical advice and medication.

In addition, the Lions donated five new blood-sugar test units to those who needed them for self-testing and treatment at home.

Staff of the Kwazulu Natal Private Ambulance Services were also on hand to do blood pressure testing at the clinic.

This project is a key focus point for Lions Clubs International and a major commitment by the Shelly Lions towards public health services.
